MARY, "THE MOTHER OF FORGIVENESS" (NOVENA)

Daily Prayer
"Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I ask for the willingness to forgive and the grace to forgive immediately all who have sinned against me. On Calvary, You gave Mary the grace to forgive me for my part in killing her Son. Then you gave Mary the grace to become my mother (Jn 19:26-27).

Mary, Mother of Forgiveness, may I forgive others as you forgave me in imitation of your Son. Mary, take my hand and lead me as I decide to accept God's grace to forgive (name the person) for (name the sin), etc.
Jesus, thank You for giving me Mary, 'Mother of Forgiveness' to be my mother.
'Mary, Mother of Forgiveness,' pray for me."

DAY ONE
Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name, and by the power of the Spirit, I thank You for forgiving me of an unimaginable debt of sin. May I accept Your grace to pass on this forgiveness to others (see Mt 18:32-33).

Mary, "the Mother of Forgiveness" help me to recognize my sins, know better the effects of my sins, and realize that I had a part in Jesus' crucifixion and death.

DAY TWO
Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name, and by the power of the Spirit, I pray for the willingness to forgive all those who have sinned against me. I know Your grace to forgive is always available to me and therefore is available at this moment. You are waiting for me. I repent of my unwillingness to forgive.

Mary, "the Mother of Forgiveness," pray for me to forgive immediately as you did 70 x 7 when Jesus, Joseph, and you were rejected and looked down on throughout your days and years as a housewife in Nazareth.

DAY THREE
Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name, and by the power of the Spirit, teach me the true meaning of forgiveness. I repent of changing the meaning of forgiveness to make it humanly possible.

Mary, "the Mother of Forgiveness," thank and praise the Lord with me forever for the miracle of forgiveness. "To err is human, to forgive is divine." No one can forgive by human power. Forgiveness is a miracle. Pray for me to receive the miracle of forgiveness you received on Calvary at the foot of the cross.

DAY FOUR
Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name, and by the power of the Spirit, You are rich in mercy (Eph 2:4). Mercy is always given in Your forgiveness. Lord, have mercy on the merciful (Mt 5:7).

Mary, "the Mother of Forgiveness," you are also "the Mother of Mercy." May I treat those who have sinned against me with mercy, that is, treat them better than they deserve. I don't deserve to have you as my mother. Thank you.

DAY FIVE
Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name, and by the power of the Spirit, as I forgive graciously and am forgiven by You in the same way (Mt 6:12), give me a great love and joy in going to Confession.

Mary, "the Mother of Forgiveness", encourage me to go to Confession at least monthly and invite others to do the same. Mother me as you mothered the apostles in the upper room before the first Christian Pentecost.

DAY SIX
Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name, and by the power of the Spirit, now that I have received the miracle of forgiveness, heal me in every way, especially heal my memories.

Mary, "the Mother of Forgiveness," pray that the Lord will remove from me the sting of painful memories as He healed your memories of me in my sinfulness.

DAY SEVEN
Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name, and by the power of the Spirit, each year in recent times countless thousands of Christians are being martyred for love of You. Thank you for giving these martyrs the grace to forgive.

Mary, "the Mother of Forgiveness," pray for me to forgive as you forgave Judas, Peter, the apostles, Pontius Pilate, the high priests, and me.

DAY EIGHT
Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name, and by the power of the Spirit, I pray that I will be a messenger of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:18). After I have forgiven those who have sinned against me, send me forth to pray, preach, and teach that all will forgive all people for all sins committed against them. Make me a witness of your miracle of forgiveness.

Mary, "the Mother of Forgiveness," pray for me to help others to forgive as you helped the Christians in the early Church to forgive their persecutors.

DAY NINE
Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name, and by the power of the Spirit, at the next Mass I pray, let me see a glimpse of Your infinite forgiveness and mercy.

Mary, "the Mother of Forgiveness," pray for me to love the body and blood of Jesus. May I go to Mass daily or as often as possible, and may I never go to a Mass without forgiving all who have sinned against me. Mary, "the Mother of Forgiveness," I will do whatever Jesus tells me (Jn 2:5).
